Multidisciplinarity is, according to some specialists, still a chimera. In the field of art history and its heritage implications, however, it is essential. Whichever area we refer to, the different fields of research require the contrast and complement of other sciences. In the case of architecture, manual building measurement, conventional photography, or the study of materials cannot be explained without the aid of photogrammetry or chemical analysis, to name just a few of the disciplines that contribute to its understanding. And thankfully, today the intuition and visual and documentary analysis of the art history specialist, which has always been paramount, is supported by studies that corroborate and expand their contributions, preventing errors based on overconfidence.
