Epidemiología de la infección por SARS-COV-2 en La Rioja

On December 31, 2019, in Wuhan (China), a cluster of cases of pneumonia of unknown etiology was detected. A Coronaviridae virus, called SARS-CoV-2, is identified as the cause of the outbreak. The World Health Organization recognized it as a global pandemic on March 11, 2020. Surveillance of COVID-19 cases in Spain and La Rioja is included in the Epidemiological
Surveillance Network. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic until May 2, 2021, 29,847 patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 have been diagnosed in La Rioja, of whom 760 have died. 3,355 patients have required hospital admission, of which 386 have been admitted to the patients care unit. The most frequent origin of the outbreaks is the family environment and the social environment, being very important the application of measures and recommendations to the population in these environments.
