COVID-19 pandemic has a lower impact in children than on adults. Patients under 18 years old represent between 0.8 and 2.1% of l the overall incidence. Most of the infected children were asymptomatic or paucisymptomatic. The symptomatology can range from fever with airway infection to pneumonia with sepsis. A paediatric multisystem inflammatory syndrome in relation to a late inflammatory response to SARS-CoV-2 (SIM-PedS) has been described, with a higher gastrointestinal affection resembling Kawasaki disease As for the children born to COVID-19 mothers, there is no clear evidence of vertical transmission, and breastfeeding is of very low risk, being safe and compatible. Finally, it should also be noted that COVID-19 has effects in other aspects such like the delay on the diagnosis of another diseases and the increase in
telephone consultations.
